This co-op was designed with our local communities in mind. The intent is to Build Community by Caring for each other through Sharing our talents and needs. It is really quite simple and practical; very much like they did in the book of Acts. As a result of the community they created, all their needs were met. Can you imagine that; everyone's needs being met? As you have probably already noticed, at the top of this page I have listed a few talents and needs we share on a daily basis. We all have talents and we all have needs, so why not build community through reaching out to each other and sharing what we have to offer. You see, it works like this: Sally is a single mom and her income is very limited. She has a Chevy Malibu that is about 10 years old and needs some repairs done on it. However, she does not have the extra money to pay a repair shop. James is a skilled mechanic and he loves what he does, but he is not that talented in every area of his life. His 13 year old son is really struggling in school with his language lessons and James is having a difficult time helping him with his studies. Sally and James find each other on the co-op and trade services. Their problem solved. You can also trade items. Perhaps you've been playing the guitar and have decided that the experience is not what you expected. You want to try a different instrument and you find someone in the co-op with a flute. The two of you decide to do some trading and bingo, another need is met. It is also quite possible there will be occasions when you will want to look within your church for someone that would be willing to trade child care or come to your home to do repairs; this option is available to you also. There is no limit to the creative ways this co-op can benefit everyone, so please take advantage of it. Now that you have an overview of the co-op, go ahead and let the community know what you are in need of or the talent you would like to share. Just click on the "My Community" icon and get started. If you have any questions or suggestions on how this service can be improved, just send me a message on the "Contact" page, I would love to hear your feed back. See you in your local community...Kathy |
